Opening of the Museum: 21 June 2006

Seduced by the project which had been entirely dreamed up and designed by Léonard Gianadda, Bernard and Caroline de Watteville set up a foundation in 2005 bearing their name, with the aim of funding the transformation of this old military arsenal into a popular tourist attraction around the strong symbol of the history of the Great St. Bernard Pass and its legendary dogs.

We are grateful for the perfect cooperation with Martigny Town Council and want to express our warmest appreciation for its support and its valuable help.

We would like to stress the excellent work done by the architects Jean-Paul and Katsumi Darbellay, the curator Frédéric Künzi, and the museographic designers Jean-Claude and Gaël Papilloud.

We wish to record the generosity of the Loterie Romande and express our sincere thanks for its grants.

Finally, our thanks go to all those who have cooperated in making this project a reality.
